Michael is a conservative republican. He believes in the constitution, rule of law, limited government, fiscal and ethical accountability, and equal rights for every person.
Michael supports the following issues that will directly affect his constituents;
Customer Service/Accessibility - Customer service and personalized service is a top priority for Michael if he is elected. He wants every person who comes to his court to be treated like a person, and not like a number. Every person entering his court will be treated with respect, dignity, and equally. Accessibility is critical for an urban court in a populated are such as precinct 3. Michael would ensure that court hearings could be held outside of normal hours in certain cases and certain times. An evening court program would be part of his plan to increase access to the court. More information coming soon about our new evening court program that will be held one weekday evening, once a quarter.
Constitution - Michael is a firm supporter of both the United States and Texas constitutions. He strongly supports free speech, rights of gun owners, rights to fair and speedy trials, and equal and fair treatment under the law for everyone.
Accountability - Michael will ensure he and his office is held accountable for any and all actions. He will also work hard to ensure violators of law are held accountable for their actions.
Efficiency - Providing the best service to the community requires an organization to operate at maximum efficiency. Under Michael's leadership, the court will provide efficient and effective service through the use of technology and common sense business practices.
Tenant/Landlord Rights - Landlord and tenant disputes make up the bulk of cases filed in the Justice Court. Michael is well-versed in Chapters 24, 92 and 96 of the Texas Property Code, as well as the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Part V, Rules of Practice in Justice Courts.
Truancy - Michel has worked closely with Truancy courts for over 12 years. Michael believes school attendance is important and parents must provide a conducive environment for their children to attend school. Michael will work with school districts in the county to ensure parents and children understand the value of a good education. Michael will enforce state truancy laws equally and effectively.
Criminal Cases & Warrants - Michael has been a law enforcement officer for over 22 years and he understands the criminal cases that are filed with the Justice of the Peace court. Michael will ensure the law is applied equally and fairly. Michael will also ensure that those convicted are held accountable and pay their fines. Warrants will be sent to the Constables to be worked, as required by state law.
Business and Consumer rights - Michael understands and supports the rights of both business and consumers. Justice Courts are designed to provide a place where individuals and business can address grievances. Michael will ensure the judgments rendered in his court follow the law and ensure the rights of both plaintiffs and defendants are protected.
